A steady space for the conversations that matter.

The goal is not perfection. It is greater understanding, practical tools, and a relationship that better supports both of you.

Room for the relationship and for each person.
You may want to work together on a recurring disagreement, distance, or a change in trust. Individual therapy can also offer one partner time to understand personal patterns and clarify what they need.

Understand the cycle, then practice a different conversation.
Recurring conflict, distance, changes in intimacy, or a loss of trust can leave you unsure how to reconnect. Sessions give each partner time to describe what is happening, understand what sits underneath the disagreement, and work toward clearer ways to respond.
Both partners need to be willing to participate, but you do not need to agree on every concern before reaching out. Your free consultation with Natasha Watkins, our Clinical Director, is a chance to discuss fit, availability, and next steps before meeting with your therapist.
Online couples therapy is available for adult clients across DC, Maryland, and Virginia. Before starting, we will discuss where each partner will attend and the practical details of meeting privately online.
Insurance benefits for individual therapy do not necessarily apply to couples sessions. Ask us to verify the particular service, clinician, and plan before scheduling.

Look beneath the disagreement.
One partner may push for a conversation while the other withdraws. A small disagreement may quickly become a familiar argument about feeling unheard, unsupported, or alone. In sessions, you can slow down those exchanges and explore what each person is trying to communicate.
The work can include noticing how conflict builds, making requests more clearly, listening without immediately defending, and discussing boundaries or expectations. Your therapist helps both partners take part in the conversation while keeping attention on the patterns you want to change.
Progress may mean recognizing an argument sooner, returning to a difficult topic with more clarity, or following through on an agreement between sessions. You and your therapist can discuss what meaningful change would look like for your relationship.
From first contact to your first session
Know what comes next.
Every new client begins with a free consultation with Natasha Watkins, our Clinical Director, before meeting with their therapist. You can share a brief outline of what brings you in and discuss clinician fit, availability, where you will attend online sessions, and billing questions.
In your first therapy session, there is room to hear what each partner hopes will change and how each understands the current difficulties. You do not need to arrive with a shared explanation or a perfectly organized account of your relationship.
Ask questions about your therapist’s style and how you will work together. Your preferences and feedback are part of the conversation.

Can we attend online from different locations?+
Tell us where each partner will be physically located. Clinician authorization and practical arrangements need to be confirmed for both locations before sessions begin.
